School Council

Welcome to the School Council Page.

At St. Urban's, we fully appreciate and hugely value the importance of developing leadership skills in our pupils; in doing so, we try to provide a variety of opportunities that encourage pupil leadership. The operation of our School Council is one such way of doing this, and it really does give our children a voice.

Every September we hold School Council elections. Prospective candidates from Y2, Y3. Y4, Y5, Y6 have the opportunity explain to their class what they would like to do as their representative on the School Council, and the class then vote. We have 2 members from Y2, Y3,Y4,Y5 and 4 members from Y6.

The Council elect a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer and hold regular meetings under the direction of Mrs McDonagh. They discuss any issues that have been raised by members of their class. Representatives approach Miss McStay. Mr Stockdale or Mrs Jamieson with their proposals. The School Council is regularly involved in making decisions that help to bring about continual school improvement at St. Urban's. They all make a valuable contribution.

Donations to the Hungry and Homeless

A number of our Minnie Vinnies/Faith in Action Group and School Councillors went to Our Lady of Lourdes to take the food and clothing donations for the hungry and homeless. Our school managed to collect a whole host of useful items that were very gratefully received by Fr. Gerard and David, a representative from St Jeanne Jugan Parish who assists with the Hungry and Homeless Project.

Thank you to all the pupils and families that contributed to this most worthy cause!
