Today's Maths lesson - From the start of the Spring Term, all learning will be posted in the Year 6 classroom on Google Classrooms. Please log in there for the latest teaching and activities. Thank you!

For each activity sheet, you can print it out and complete it or you can just put the sheet on screen and answer the questions straight on to paper.

Friday 20th November

Having looked at adding mixed numbers, we will now start to look at subtracting mixed numbers. For today, we will keep the common denominators fairly simple.

Thursday 19th November

Following on from the last lesson, we will be practising adding mixed numbers - and we may need to think about the common denominator a bit more.

Tuesday 17th November

Yesterday we were adding and subtracting fractions, including improper fractions. We will practise that a little more today and then we will start to add mixed numbers, looking at two different approaches.

Monday 16th November

Today we will continue to practise adding and subtracting fractions - this time the denominators may not have a common factor.

Friday 13th November

We will start today's lesson by looking a bit more at comparing fractions (using common denominators and equivalent fractions - see Thursday's lesson).

Then we will look at adding and subtracting fractions where the denominators do have a common factor.

Click on this link to watch the lesson video (from White Rose Maths) ('Add and subtract fractions (1)') and then complete the activity below.

Thursday 12th November

In today's lesson we will first have another look at placing fractions on a number line (see Tuesday's lesson).

Then we will move on to ordering fractions (mainly by using equivalent fractions to make sure the fractions we are comparing have the same denominator).

Click on this link to watch the lesson video (from White Rose Maths) ('Compare and order (denominator)') and then complete the activity below.

Wednesday 11th November

Today we will attempt another Arithmetic paper. Think about the last one we did and what you planned to get right this time to improve your score. Was it making sure you added/subtracted in the right places? Was it making sure you used our calculation methods more accurately? Was it one of the type of fraction or percentage questions?

Tuesday 10th November

In today's lesson we will first have another look at converting mixed numbers to improper fractions (see Monday's lesson).

Then we will move on to placing fractions on a number line.

Click on this link to watch the lesson video (from White Rose Maths) ('Fractions on a number line') and then complete the activity below.

Monday 9th November

There are two parts to today's lesson.

First of all, we will be converting improper fractions to mixed numbers.

Click on this link to watch the lesson video (from White Rose Maths) ('Improper fractions to mixed numbers) and then complete the first activity below.

After that, we will be reversing the process and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions.

Thursday 5th November

In class we will, first of all, practise finding equivalent fractions, then we will move on to simplifying fractions to their simplest form.

Click on this link to watch the lesson video (from White Rose Maths) ('Simplify fractions') and then complete the activity below. There is also a video on 'Equivalent fractions' that you could watch too.

Tuesday 3rd November

We started to look at this yesterday in class but we will develop this further today.

We will improve our ability to reason from known facts - taking what we already know to help us work out something else.

Click on this link to watch the main lesson video (Reason from known facts) (from White Rose Maths) and then complete the activity below.

Monday 2nd November

Welcome back after half-term!

Today we will look back at the order of operations (see Tuesday 20th October) and also look at Mental calculations and estimation.
