Week beginning 29th June 2020
I have posted some activities this week to reflect on how we are all different and we all have our own special qualities.
Week beginning 15th June 2020
This week we are looking in detail at the story "Avocado Baby" by John Burningham. So we will be thinking a lot about babies! If you haven't got a copy of this story, I have read it previously on Tapestry, and I have also posted a link below of a reading on YouTube.
Week beginning June 1st 2020
In class this week we are going to be looking at the story of The Gingerbread Man. We will continue to sequence the story using story maps, and we also look at the different characters and think about what they might be saying to the Gingerbread Man. We will use speech bubbles to write it down and attach them to the different characters. I have attached some Gingerbread resources as a guide. And of course, you can always bake your own tasty Gingerbread Men!
Week beginning 4th May 2020
Just in case you haven't got the book, I've posted the link to it here. I will also read the story on Tapestry.
I know you don't all have access to a printer, but here are some ideas of what you could do. If you can, I would like you to draw a Story Map of parts of the story. So think about what happens at the beginning of the story and draw a little egg lying on a leaf. Then we draw a little arrow to show what is going to happen next. Then can you draw the caterpillar popping out of the egg? Then another arrow! What happens next? He starts to look for some food....
That is how we do a Story Map. The map helps us when we come to write the story ourselves - we can look at our map to help us decide what to write first, next and so on.
